Watermelon refreshment!



Good evening!


I don't know how about you guys, but every summer when temperatures go up the sky I start to look for some refreshing possibilities. Of course it is easy to just open a bottle of a sparkling water, add some additional ice cubes, but it also feels a bit more challenging from time to time to mix some flavors, look for something interesting. Last year I tried a peach-lemon combination, which came out delicious and this year it is time for an equally interesting combination; water melon - lemon - ginger. What I immediately liked about this recipe was that it took me no more than 10 minutes to prepare it! It's is just a bit longer than opening a bottle of sparkling water. ;-)


Here is the recipe:


Ingredients:


1/2 kg water melon (chopped, be sure to remove the seeds before)

30 ml of water

30 ml of sugar

Lemon juice

Ginger (1 cm)


Prepare the watermelon* by removing the seeds, then cut it into small cubes and break down using blender or food processor. In the meantime, in the small pot mix the water and the sugar, then warm it up and let it boil for a 2-3 minutes. Add the prepared syrup and a couple of droplets of lemon juice to the blended watermelon and mix. As a final touch add the grinded ginger (together with a juice) to the obtained mixture. Let the ingredients combine. Be careful as the excess of ginger can dominate the taste of the drink. Let the drink cool down in the fridge or simply add a couple of ice cubes. You can also add a little bit of sparkling water if like or finally mix it with sparkling wine to make an alcohol drink. Bon appetit and have a pleasant evening! :-)


*If possible, keep the watermelon in the fridge for about an hour before you start to prepare the drink
